Wanted Fugitive Captured

PRESS RELEASE

On Sunday January 6, 2019 Morton Borough Police were alerted that surrounding police agencies were in active pursuit of a stolen vehicle in the area of South Avenue and Providence Road. The vehicle continued to travel westbound on Providence Road and into Morton Borough. Morton Police responded, briefly joining the pursuit of the vehicle in a support role. At this time the vehicle struck a utility pole in the area of 24 Providence Road, Morton Borough, resulting in disabling damage to the vehicle.


Police placed the operator into custody and identified him as Everett SIMPSON, an individual wanted by authorities in Vermont for both kidnapping and sexual assault. Additionally, the vehicle was confirmed to have been stolen from Upper Darby Township a short time earlier.


Both the accident investigation and report were completed by the Morton Borough Police Department. SIMPSON was transported via ambulance to the Crozer Chester Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Charges are pending by both the Upper Darby Township Police and federal authorities in relation to the incident.
